Players selected for England Lions Community Squad and progressing for Lancashire U17s Dev Day

Leigh RUFC are delighted to announce that several of our under 16’s and under 17’s have been successful in pushing their rugby higher.

At under 16’s, our congratulations go to Reece Galvin, Joseph Higgins-Meadows and Bradley McDonough for they have all been selected in the England Community Lions squad list on behalf of Leigh Miners. All three of the boys play rugby both union and league. They are all included in the squad selection for the 2024 Home Nations Tournament playing against the equivalent rugby league teams for Scotland, Ireland and Wales.

Similarly, Lancashire recently held a trial for the under 17’s out at our local neighbours, Tyldesley RUFC. Around 90 players were expected to trial, being assessed on everything from fitness, mindset and skill set. Leigh had several of the squad attend the trials, and are very proud to announce that several were selected to progress onto the Development Day held at Leigh RUFC on the 19th April from 5.30pm – 8pm.

Congratulations go to Danny Lea, Jack Grainey, Josh Warhurst and Val Monetti for progressing to the next stages. Commiserations to Rory Smollett and Diego Walker who were unsuccessful this time. There will be plenty other opportunities for these players.

For all our players, we wish them every success and hope they enjoy the opportunity whichever the code!
