Bulldogs turn on the style to win away at Eccles

The Bulldogs made the short journey to Eccles for their first away game of the new season.

The last visit to Eccles was in April for the narrow loss to Widnes in the Lancs Trophy Final.

Seeking a fourth consecutive win, the Bulldogs welcomed back Ethan for his first game of the season with several Bulldogs missing from the starting line up. The game was played in 21 degree tropical October conditions.

With the lack of a referee, Chunky heroically stepped in the ensure the game could go ahead.

The Bulldogs hit the front straightaway with strong running from the forwards setting the platform for Sammy to score from close range in the second minute. Noah converted the extras.

The Bulldogs were almost in again from the kick off with brilliant free flowing rugby only being thwarted by a forward pass. The Bulldogs won the scrum which allowed Will to stroll over in front of the posts. Once again Noah added the conversion.

Following further strong Bulldogs pressure another scrum against the head saw James Q finding his way to the line. Noah maintained his 100% conversion record.

With ten minutes of the half left the home team got on the scoresheet with a fine individual try. The conversion was missed.

Following injuries to two Eccles forwards the remainder of the half become scrappy with only one breakaway chance from the home team which was spectacularly stopped by an ankle tap from Sammy.

HT: 5-21

The Bulldogs opened the scoring in the second half following a strong run from Harrison M who fed Ethan for an impressive try. The conversion was missed.

James Q made an excellent run from the kick off and was on hand to finish off what he started with a try following excellent hands from Ethan and Will. Noah converted the try.

At the halfway stage of the second half, Will found his way to the try line for another try which was converted by Noah.

The Bulldogs dominance began to tell with Will helping himself to another try out wide following a good run from Sammy. The difficult conversion was narrowly missed.

Kayden brought up the fifty following a strong run and offload from Oliver D. Noah added the extras.

Ethan added a final try following an excellent run from James Q as the referee brought the game to an end. The conversion was not taken.
