Bulldogs overcome tough Rochdale team to remain unbeaten in Lancs Cup

The Bulldogs got back to action following a two week break with a trip to Rochdale in the third round of the Lancs Cup.

Matches between the teams have historically been physical and close.

Ahead of the game the players and supporters observed a minutes silence to remember those that have given the greatest sacrifice on Remembrance Day.

The Bulldogs made a strong start and dominated the opening exchanges, controlling the ball well. With 5 minutes gone, Leo made a break and fed Isaac who made a smart grubber kick which he collected to score. Harrison G converted the extras.

The Bulldogs put themselves under pressure from the kick off with a knock on leading to a penalty for the home team which they converted.

A smart break from James was thwarted by excellent defence with the next play from Isaac also being kept out through a last ditch tackle.

With 10 minutes of the half left, Rochdale got another penalty which they converted to narrow the gap to a point.

With the referee penalising the Bulldogs, Rochdale built strong field position which was further compounded with the sin binning of Captain Will.

Despite putting themselves under pressure, the Bulldogs held on until half time without further score.

HT: 6-7

As per the first half, the Bulldogs made a strong start with a big drive leading to a penalty which Harrison G converted.

With the Bulldogs growing in confidence, swift hands from the line out saw Isaac scoot in out wide for an excellent try. The conversion was missed.

The Bulldogs conceded another penalty and for the third time an extra 10 was added on for backchat. This made the kickers job easier as the penalty was slotted over.

An excellent Harrison G break almost got the Bulldogs in but for a final pass knock on.

With 7 minutes left the Bulldogs made a stunning break through Will who fed Isaac to score his hat-trick under the posts. The conversion was unsuccessful.

With Bulldogs finally cutting loose, a quick tap penalty found James Q who powered over the line. Ethan converted the kick via the goalpost.

The Bulldogs closed the match out for a fine Cup win against tenacious opponents.
