Bulldogs crash in Cup

The Bulldogs continued their Lancashire Cup campaign with a home game against Manchester who had already beaten Rochdale in the competition with defeats to Wigan and Heaton Moor.

With the thermometer struggling to break 2 degrees, the visitors started brightly and almost converted their territory and possession into points after 4 minutes.

The Bulldogs defence held out and following a penalty they spread the ball out wide which allowed Isaac to find a gap and his way to the try line. The conversion was missed (5-0).

Manchester hit straight back with a well worked try in the 10th minute. The conversion was successful (5-7).

Manchester almost extended their lead when they were held up over the line in the 13th minute. On the next play they did score a try in the corner which was excellently converted (5-14).

With the clock ticking down to half time, Manchester were once again held up over line.

The Bulldogs made a good start to the second half but a litany of errors allowed Manchester to gain possession.

In the 10th minute the visitors took full advantage of the Bulldogs generosity, scoring in the corner. The try was unconverted (5-19).

The Bulldogs dug in and began to find momentum but could not turn that into points.

With two minutes remaining Manchester broke away to seal the win. The conversion was missed (5-24).
