Leigh RUFC are incredibly saddened to hear of the passing of former manageress Sarah Hughes (Pippa).
Sarah was a much-loved member of the Leigh RUFC family, remembered not only for her dedication to the club but also for her wonderful sense of humour and the smiles she brought to those around her.
She will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her.
Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Sarah’s family and friends at this very difficult time.
RIP Pippa.
Message from Jonjoe, Pippa/Sarah’s son.
My mum’s funeral will be on 2 October at Howe Bridge Crematorium, M46 0PZ. The service will begin at either 9:30am or 9:45am. The exact time is still to be confirmed, and I’ll post an update on Facebook once I know.
Afterwards, we’ll be gathering at Leigh Cricket Club, WN7 3LH, from 10:30am until 4pm, with anyone who wishes welcome to stay on in the bar into the evening.
You would be very welcome to join us to remember her and celebrate her life. Dark, sombre clothing would be appreciated.
I’m arranging the funeral and would really appreciate any photographs or videos of Mum that you’re happy to share.
I’m also putting together her eulogy and finding it difficult to know where to start. If you have any stories or memories of her, I’d love to hear them. They don’t need to be beautifully written—even a few words or a little moment you remember would mean a lot.
I’d especially love to hear about he:
kindness, compassion, generosity and thoughtfulness
the ways she supported people;
her humour and mischievous side;
and her authenticity and the things that made her uniquely herself.
Funny stories about her impatience or the things that irritated her, that are entertaining are welcome too.
—anything that captures the person you knew and loved.
Please let me know whether you’re happy for your memories to be included in the service or would prefer me to keep them private.
You can message either my Facebook account or Mum’s, or send a text or WhatsApp message to her phone, which I still have access to. You can also contact me directly on 07933 863 925, preferably by WhatsApp.
Thank you for helping me remember Mum and tell her story.
Jonjoe
