The Aldwinains pack was keen to establish dominance and did so in the first few scrums causing the Leigh forwards a few problems in the early period.
The first real opportunity for a score came after 15mins when Aldwinians were penalised in their half and a Marcus Williams attempt went wide of the left post.
A run from the back by Jermaine Allen saw Leigh make 60 yards but a try saving tackle by the Aldwinians defender halted the Leigh attack.
Another penalty for an infringement by Aldwinians saw Marcus Williams put the first points onto the scoreboard on the 35 min mark.
The second half continued in the same vein with both teams having their time on the front foot. An injury to full back Bentham was followed quickly by an Aldwiniams attack that took the next points from a penalty. Leigh hit back immediately and Williams again put over a penalty that took Leigh into a 6-3 lead 10 minutes into the second half.
The game continued to be error ridden with another penalty conversion by Williams but apart from a effort late in the second half that was disallowed for a forward pass Leigh looked unlikely to score a try in the game.
Comments by the visiting supporters that Leigh looked very one dimensional were accepted gracefully and we now look forward to a improved performance at Wigton next Saturday
