Another narrow and frustrating defeat for Leigh in a game that should and could have been won.
Leigh began the stronger, and raced into a thirteen point lead courtesy of young stand off Rob Drake.
Firstly he kicked a long penalty, then raced away and converted his own try, before a second penalty put Leigh well in control. Eccles however were to prove stern opposition and came back into the contest with an unconverted try before the interval.

The second period saw Eccles take complete control, as Leigh continued to concede countless and unnecessary penalties at the breakdown.
Two converted tries were scored , as the home side appeared cruising.
Leigh however mounted a late rally which resulted in a brilliant try for Kieran Duffy. However the final conversion was missed and Leigh were left to reflect on their indiscipline at the breakdown.

Despite the loss Leigh find themselves above the relegation zone, as a result of their bonus point collection, and must continue the battle as their injury situation improves.
