Leigh go down to Glossop in fourth defeat of the season.

Leigh came up against a very big and physical Glossop side yesterday and their very basic game plan wore the plucky Leigh side down, producing five tries for the visitors.

Leigh were the first to score, through a Rob Drake penalty, on ten minutes but after that Leigh were very much on the back foot, tackling their hearts out.

Glossop’s forward dominance got them over the Leigh line, in the twenty second minute, for an unconverted pushover try and they added to this in the thirty fifth minute, when good approach work by their forwards set up a platform, for their backs to spin the ball wide, to score a well worked try down their left flank.

Glossop maintained their pressure after the half time break and they soon crossed again, for a converted try, to the left of the Leigh posts, in the forty third minute. The Glossop forwards continued to dominate for the remainder of the match, with Leigh battling valiantly to keep them at bay but in the end the relentless pressure from their big, ball carrying forwards just proved too much for Leigh to handle and Glossop were rewarded with another two well constructed, unconverted tries, to take the spoils and earn themselves a well deserved bonus point.
