Leigh travelled to our good friends Rochdale yesterday on the back of a very narrow defeat, at home, to high flying Bowdon the week before. Hopes in the camp were high but Rochdale soon dispelled any thoughts of a victory with a clinical display.
An early penalty got Rochdale off to a great start and they soon added three unconverted tries and another penalty before the break, to take them off at half time, leading by twenty one points to nil.
They went on to dominate proceedings in the second half, scoring one unconverted and one converted try, to take them into a thirty one points to nil lead, before Leigh snatched one back through a brilliant solo effort from Alex Owens, who scored from about 70 metres out, for a try under the Rochdale sticks which was converted by Rob Drake.
Final Score Rochdale 33 Leigh 7
Leigh have no League games now until Saturday 30th March when they entertain 7th placed Southport at Hand Lane K.O. 3 p.m.
