The side lacked the urgency and intensity of recent games, and a good Warrington outfit were quick to take advantage.
Leigh started well, but were unable to force the early score. Warrington began to assume control and score the first try after an exchange of penalties. The home side were to lead by this converted score at the break as Leigh turned to face the breeze.
Leigh were to lose skipper Iain Wood to the bin in controversial circumstances, but Warrington were to lose their influential number 8, after a disallowed score. The home side however coped better, and established a commanding lead through a penalty, two excellent tries and one conversion.
With the game seeming over Leigh finally came to life. Tries by David Penn, Elliott Ryan, and Ross Shepherd , with two Ryan conversions to add to his earlier penalty put Leigh in touch of an unlikely win, but they were unable to force the score, and had to settle for a losing bonus point.
Next week Leigh travel to Littleborough in the Lancashire trophy semi-final, as they seek some silverware away from league action.
