The season continued on a familiar pattern for Leigh when another solid performance was not enough for a much needed win.
Kendal were first out of the blocks and quickly scored a penalty and a try.
Leigh hit back quickly, when skipper Iain Wood scored off the back of a driving maul. Kendal regained the initiative to score a pushover try before the break.
Leigh now had use of the wind, on a gluepot of a pitch, and produced their best spell of the game.
Their young back division moved the ball quickly for Ross Shepherd to break clear and send Jimmy Wilkinson over. At this point Leigh looked in a strong position, but their failure to use the wind cost field position which the big Kendal forwards used well to gain a penalty, and score two unconverted tries.
Leigh were not finished and scored another excellent try , when Wilkinson was put clear to provide the scoring pass for Elliott Ryan who also kicked his second conversion to give Leigh the consolation of a losing bonus point.
Even though Leigh were again to face disappointment, the effort and attitude remain excellent, which gives hope for the remainder of this season, and for future campaigns.
Special mention should be made of the fact that both teams and the referee were able to provide excellent entertainment on a sodden surface.
