Leigh 57 Furness 7

In glorious conditions Leigh were quickly in their stride against their Cumbrian visitors.
With barely two minutes on the clock a speculative kick deep into Leigh's twenty two was gathered by full back Jimmy Wilkinson, who immediately accelerated to the opponents try line evading several would-be tacklers on his way.
Hauled down yards from the line, the referee awarded Leigh a penalty, this was quickly re-cycled to prop forward Wayne McCabe enabling him to dive under the posts this was converted by Rob Drake.
From then on there was no holding Leigh who kept the score board ticking over at regular intervals.
The set scrums were dominated by the Leigh eight, the Furness pack being pushed back at an alarming rate of knots. Tries were scored by Keiron Duffy, seven minutes, Jimmy Wilkinson, twelve minutes and Graham Robinson on the twenty fourth minute, for once, Rob Drake's conversion attempts were slightly off target.
With the first half drawing to a close the try of the match was scored by Ryan McKinstry, taking a well timed pass from the stand off to race under the posts for a converted try,
On forty minutes, it was Leigh's full back who joined the line at speed for yet another try converted by Rob Drake.

Half time score Leigh 36 nFurness 0.

Suprisingly, in the second half, Leigh relaxed their grip on the match, allowing Furness to dominate the remaining forty minutes. A well deserved converted try after fifty three minutes was just reward for their efforts. With ten minutes left until the end of the match, Leigh suddenly clicked back into gear. First Graham Robinson notched up his second try this time converted by veteran substitute Anthony Bentham and this was quickly followed by Adam Dyson scoring under the posts again converted by Anthony Bentham.
The game ending when Alex Middleton-Adams crossed for the last try of the match converted once more by Anthony Bentham.
Catching the eye for Leigh was Steve Millard showing his versatility in a variety of positions, and the non stop robust Graham Robinson.

Final Score 57 - 7
