Bulldogs start season with tough away loss to Tyldesley

The Bulldogs commenced the 24/25 season with a Lancs Cup tie away at nearest neighbours Tyldesley, 175 days since their last match.

Last time out against Tyldesley, the Bulldogs went down to a 10-5 home defeat in gale force weather conditions.

The Bulldogs welcomed Oscar and Tristan for their debuts.

The home team got off to a blistering start and opened the scoring after 2 minutes. The conversion was successful (7-0).

Tyldesley extended their lead on 14 minutes with a similar close range score in front of the posts after a series of Bulldogs handling errors. The conversion was successful (14-0).

Following some excellent pressure the Bulldogs forced a five metre scrum which allowed Will to dive over for the Bulldogs first try of the new season in the last minute of the half. Harrison G converted the try (14-7).

HT: 14-7

The Bulldogs started as they finished with fine rugby building to a free play penalty. A Harrison G chip found Ethan for an excellent try after 2 minutes of the second half. Harrison G converted to level the scores (14-14).

After 13 minutes of the half the home team hit the front again with a try in the corner. The kick was unsuccessful (19-14).

With the rain becoming torrential handling errors from both sides crept in and the match became a slugfest with Tyldesley narrowly holding out for the win.

FT: 19-14
